This policy explains what personal data Go Race Live collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have. It applies to our website, web app, and related services (the "Service").
This Privacy Policy describes data handling only. It does not change, override, or expand the responsibility, liability, safety, or accuracy disclaimers in our Terms of Service. In particular, nothing here should be read as a guarantee about the accuracy, reliability, or safety of location data, checkpoint verification, or any other feature of the Service.
Data we collect
- Account data: email or phone number, display name, avatar.
- Race data: games you create or join, missions, points, photo and video submissions.
- Location data: during an active race, location data reported by your device, used by the Service to attempt to verify checkpoint arrivals. We do not warrant the accuracy, precision, or timeliness of any location data.
- Device data: browser type, IP address, anonymous device token for guest sessions.
- Usage analytics: aggregated visit and event data to understand how the Service is used.
How we use it
- Operate the Service — show your races, verify checkpoints, rank teams, deliver SMS codes.
- Communicate about your account, security, and important Service changes.
- Prevent abuse and keep the Service secure.
- Improve features through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
Legal basis (EU/UK users)
We rely on the contract you enter when using the Service, your consent (e.g. for location during a live race), and our legitimate interest in keeping the Service secure and improving it.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers we use to run the Service (hosting, database, SMS delivery, analytics).
- Other participants of the same race — your display name, avatar, and in-game activity are visible inside that race.
- Authorities when legally required.
Retention
Account and race data are kept while your account is active. Location pings during live races are kept for the duration of the race and a short period afterwards for the recap. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your profile and disassociates your past content.

You can delete your account at any time; on deletion we remove or disassociate your personal data, subject to short-lived backups and any data we are legally required to retain. Content you shared with other Participants of a race may remain visible to them inside that race.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), authentication, row-level security in the database, and least-privilege access for our team. No service can be guaranteed 100% secure, and we provide no warranty of security. See the Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
Children
Manager accounts are limited to users 16+. Minor participants may only take part under the consent and active supervision of an adult Manager, who is solely responsible for them and for their participation and content, as set out in the Terms of Service.
Your rights
